Getting the Most Out of Your Stamps

June 23, 2012

Hello, hello! Melissa here today showing how you can get more out of your stamps! We’re gearing up for the Stretch Your Stamps Online Card Class!

I’m using Hero Arts CG431 Flower Table Cloth that coordinates with the Basic Grey PB & J collection.

Technique 1:
Kissing! Ink up 2 stamps, smack ’em together and stamp! Here I used Newspaper Background with Flower Table Cloth. It just takes a lot of experimenting to get what you want so I give you full permission to kiss away! No right or wrong way, right or wrong ink. Every combo gives you a different look!
You’ll love this technique, try it out then enter our current Pucker Up Challenge sponsored by Simon Says Stamp!
And you if you need some visual assistance, Danielle made an awesome video HERE to help you see the process.

Technique 2:
Good ‘ol stamping and coloring. I used VersaFine to ink up the whole stamp, blotted some spots off and stamped then colored in the flowers with the new Summer Distress Inks and then inked up the whole piece with Tea Dye.  Chari Moss made the button & little mum, she has a store on Etsy called MossyMade.

Technique 3:
And finally I stamped, colored and cut the flowers out. I really liked stamping this Table Cloth background up in black so I did that again, then colored the flowers using a variety of Distress Ink re-inkers and a water coloring brush.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day 🙂

Two little stamps, sittin’ in a tree…

June 21, 2012

Hi, stampy friends! Lisa here, with a card I made for the current “Pucker Up, Buttercup” challenge!

I think the kissing technique is SO much fun… it’s a great way to give your favorite images a cool new twist:

For this card, I inked the lovely leaf image with green ink, the graph background with brown ink, and then kissed the two together. Clear stamps are great for this technique, because you can see through them and line up your images a certain way if you want, prior to kissing them together.

I almost fussy cut the leaves image entirely, but instead, left a little bit uncut for the setiment. It’s similar to a technique Julie Ebersole showcased over on the Hero Arts blog last Wednesday called “Out of the Box”, but a bit more extreme.
And here’s a couple fussy cutting tips for you:
1. Use the centers of your scissor blades as opposed to just the tips
2. Move the paper while cutting, not your scissors
You can see Julie doing both in the video. These tricks will give you more control, making the cutting faster and more accurate with less fatigue.

I hope you enjoy. 🙂 Remember, there’s only a few days left of the challenge! Link up your kissed creations HERE, by the 26th at 5pm EST for your shot at a generous gift voucher..

..to the amazing Simon Says Stamp!

Thanks for stopping by today… happy kissing! Heehee! 🙂

Different ways to use banners

June 19, 2012

Hello everyone!

It’s Cristina here. First of all, I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes and specially the rest of the DT girls for the great cards they made for me. If you haven’t seen them yet, you must, cause they are gorgeous, so click here!
As you should know by now, the Stretch Your Stamps class is starting soon, and we have a giveaway going on here on the blog. This is gonna be a great class, cause it is always nice to find new ways to use a stamp!
So today, I have different uses for banners. It is one of those stamps that we all have, but that we always tend to use the same way, and I have to say that they are quite versatile. Here is the stamp set I used:
I used this set a couple of weeks ago, just as a banner, on a card I made for Danielle’s birthday. But here is another use:
I just used the tips of the pennants to make the sun rays. If you would like to make a bigger sun, you could just turn them around, like Danielle did on her card on this post.
With this stamp set you can also make trees:
They make the perfect trees! I decided to make an acetate window, to give the card some dimension. I love acetate cards!
Using an stamp-a-ma-jig, you can create great backgrounds with this stamps:
Just use a repeat pattern and different inks. Oh, and this is really good for masculine cards!
And for the last card I decided to use this stamp as an ice cream cone:
Just clear emboss it on Kraft paper! For the actual ice cream I used this Christmas stamp from Hero Arts. Crazy, right?
So I hope I gave you some new ideas for your stamps, and remember that we have a challenge going on right now, and you could win a gift certificate for Simon Says Stamp. So give it a try!
