Hello, stampy friends, and happy Monday! 🙂 Lisa here, with a few projects I’ve made for the Dust ‘Em Off challenge. Going through my stash, I knew I would probably find some stamps that had never seen any ink… but I was quite surprised to discover just how many! *GASP* I knew I had to fix that right away! So I decided to play along:
Remember that really cool Hero Arts Starburst stamp? Here, I stamped it twice on white card stock – once in black ink and once in Hero’s Iris chalk ink (something else I’ve had for a while now, but not used yet). A little fussy cutting, some pop dots for layering, and voilá… an old favorite is new again!
And who could forget THIS gorgeous beauty?! While this Large Flower cling is a fabulous image for coloring, I still wanted to do something a little different. So I went with the spotlight technique. Stamp your image twice on to white card stock with black ink. Color one of the images, cut out just a portion of it, and lay it over the UN-colored black and white image. It’s a very dramatic effect!
What about this beautiful stamp? The Floral Swirl Vine is a really versatile image – great to color as a focal point, or for tone-on-tone stamping as a background. On this card, I did the former. 🙂 I stamped and heat embossed in black, then colored with a Copic marker and white gel pen. I also embossed the sentiment on to a strip of vellum card stock, which takes heat embossing much better than the regular weight vellum. HELPFUL TIP: A trick to adhering vellum to your project without any adhesive showing (if your design allows for it), is to wrap the vellum around the card stock panel and adhere to the back… THEN adhere your panel to your card base. 😉
And finally… although these images aren’t particularly older, they have been sitting on my desk a while, waiting ever-so patiently to get inked up, so that’s exactly what I did. 🙂 The sentiment was cut out with a Nestabilities Label 4 die and then trimmed on top and bottom, just for something a little different. Another item on this card that I had never used was Hero’s Cerulean layering paper. I don’t use a lot of blue in my card making for some reason, so this seemed like the perfect time to do so!
